The first woman President of the Harvard Law Review, the first woman to run a national Presidential campaign, and the youngest woman to be tenured at Harvard Law School, Susan Estrich was an equity partner at Quinn Emanuel and Boies Schiller, worked on national television (ABC, NBC, Fox News) for close to 30 years. She founded and co-chaired the Crisis Law Practice Group at Quinn Emanuel. She dealt with crises and communications for the firm and its clients, as she had in her early days at Harvard, when she worked with Alan Dershowitz and Larry Tribe. The unique combination of 40 years of legal experience, 10 years as the subject of press attention, and 30 years as a member of the media, has enabled her to design the most effective communications strategies to support the legal strategy.

Her clients have included Mattel and Michael Milken, Roger Ailes (Allison Janney played Susan in Bombshell), a Muslim businessman in Boston, and McDonalds under attack for Happy Meals in San Francisco, She held an endowed chair at USC, and is the author of eight books.

She holds a BA from Wellesley College summa cum laude, and a JD from Harvard Law School magna cum laude. She put herself through school as a waitress and bartender.  Forty years ago, she stood up in front of 140 law students, mostly men of course, and told them that she had been raped and that rape was now part of the law school curriculum. The Harvard Crimson wrote the story, and the death threats began the next day.   Susan Estrich has never backed down. During her first year of law school, members of the legendary Winter Hill Gang (Whitey Bulger’s old gang), followed her back to the parking lot at Harvard at the end of her night shift and then walked down the deserted street to her dorm room. She is a founding Board member of the Victims Rights Law Center in Boston, and has devoted much of her scholarly work to rape. She has privately counseled many, many hundreds of students who were also victims hoping to take power as survivors. The activism of this new generation brings her great joy.
